I Feel Sick...

Dizziness sucks! I get these periods where I feel really dizzy. It gets several orders of magnitude worse when I hold my head is certain positions. The doctor has explained that it is caused by crystals in my inner ear. The crystals come loose and float around in the canal that facilitates balance, that whole bubble in the spirally tube thing, remember. Anyway, a crystal gets lodged and blocks the flow of the fluid. When the pressure builds up, the crystal comes loose and the fluid floods the section of the canal that was blocked. The brain translates this as spinning. Makes me feel really sick.

I hate it when I feel like this. I hope it goes away soon.

So I just finished my second week in the new position at Apple. It has been a really busy two weeks. This week was busier than last, in part because I have a better idea of what I'm suppose to be doing. That, in turn, means that I have a better understanding of how little I know about my job.

It is still a lot of fun.

I love Surfing

One of the things (there are quite a few) that I love more than my job is surfing. Got in the water this morning at dawn and surfed for about an hour. There were almost no waves. Jamie and I did manage to catch a few rides though.

Tomorrow is swimming.

Malama Pono, Ebin & Ally

Went to the beach this evening, to a party. A send off to a couple of people that I really wish we'd gotten to know better. Ebin and Ally are headed south so that Ebin can attend college. Ebin will be studying construction management. Ally will be working as a teacher to put Ebin through school. A great couple, those two. They'll go far together.

Great time a the beach. The water's warm, at least for this area. The kids swam in the ocean. Yoshi's becoming a pretty skilled waterman. Little Guards is having its affect. The kids got their boogie boards and played some more. We bar-b-qued bratwurst. I love brat. Why anyone would eat hot dogs after discovering brat is some thing I cannot understand. Anyway, dinner was great. Lots of junk food.

A lot of Ebin & Ally's friends were there to say farewell. Met a lot of great people. Talked story for a while. Then it was time to say good bye.

Aloha, Ebin and Ally. Malama pono.

Hum?

So, is anyone besides me more than just a little bit curious as to where the funding for this research is coming from.

I Love My Job

OK, so, I work in one of the coolest groups at one of the coolest companies, ever. No wait. I work in the coolest group at the coolest company, ever. Yes, ever!

We (that is, my group at my company) do things like iPod and iSight. I'm sorry but we're talkin' the very crown jewels of coolsville here. I tried to downplay the iPod before I joined the team. Yeah, you know, whatever. It's just an MP3 player, big deal. It was a little harder to down play the iSight camera but I was workin' it. Hah! They are both hella cool.
